A 36 page revision booklet designed to help students prepare for AS English Literature. Each poem in Philip Larkin's The Whitsun Weddings is considered and contextual details are explained in reference to the text. The poems are not analysed but the contextual issues are highlighted - Helping students gain AO3 marks. After the context are a list of themes with relevant poems selected from The Whitsun Weddings and Carol Ann Duffy's Mean Time. There are 9 created practice exam questions for Section B of the exam, along with an example essay to help model good quality answers.

It is a full unit of work taking them from considering the titles of 'My Box' by Gillian Clarke and 'In September' by John Ormond. Tasks include title analysis and predictions, mind maps on different ideas, annotation of stanzas, research of poetic techniques, proofreading activities and teaching how to structure essays using the PEE method with an example.

It begins simply with what makes up a simple sentence (Subject and verb phrase), then looks at creating compound sentences from two main clauses and a connective, then shows what a subordinate clause is and how to use commas to separate the main clause from the subordinate clause. Perfect to use with KS3 or KS4 classes. Can even be used at KS2. Fits into English language lessons or Literacy lessons.

Because the difference between a 'description' and 'narration' is difficult to gauge with the new definitions given, I wrote this piece so students could see a model. It has helped my students to realise the difference and to give them a model to aspire towards.

A 40 page workbook using A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens to practise WJEC English Language skills. This booklet contains Language Unit 2 proofreading exercises on the context of ACC, sequencing questions using events from the text, 'What impressions ...' questions using an extract from ACC, 'How does the writer ...' questions which help both Language and Literature examinations, 'Compare and contrast' questions, 'access, search and retrieve' questions and a list of possible character and theme questions. The resource was created because schools are not focusing so heavily on English Literature because of it no longer is used for schools' L2+. Using the Literature text to work on Language skills is an excellent way of addressing both examinations. This is an excellent workbook for lessons, homework or for catch up or tutoring sessions.
